About the Director:
Sara Weischedel is the band director at Holgate Middle School in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she teaches 6th-8th grade concert band, jazz band and an elective reading course. During the summers she is actively involved in musical productions at the Capital Theatre in Aberdeen, having conducted the pit orchestras of "Shrek, the Musical," "Hairspray," and "Sister Act." She is a member of the Aberdeen Municipal Band and is also a co-chair person for the Aberdeen Grade School Music Contest. In 2017 she was invited to be the guest conductor at the Northern State University Band Clinic. In 2020, Sara was the Aberdeen School District "Golden Apple" recipient.
Prior to teaching in Aberdeen, she taught at both Sully Buttes High School and Belle Fourche High School. Sara graduated Northern State University in 2003 with a Bachelor's in Music Education and studied Clarinet under Dr. Alan LaFave. Sara is a member of the South Dakota Bandmaster's Association, Phi Beta Mu and South Dakota Music Educators Association. She recently graduated with her Masters of Music Education from Northern State University.
